Hundahólmi

Hundahólmi is a tiny little company with quality products for those who like Iceland – or are at least interested in Iceland, Icelanders and Icelandic. The products are made in Iceland whenever possible. They are available in selected stores in Reykjavík or can be ordered directly from us. We use Paypal.

It so happened that the friends Hildur Petersen and Anna Bjarnadóttir had just decided to go into business together when Karin Kurzmeyer and Piret Uustal were studying at the Academy of Arts in Iceland. Investing in their “very serious pictures from Iceland” was the company’s first step. The illustrations have been its mainstay ever since.

Hundahólmi means Dogs’ Isle but we have nothing to do with dogs. Hildur and Anna chose the name in honour of a tuft of grass in a pond at Þingvellir. The old photo, jazzed up by Karin Kurzmeyer, shows them rowing towards it as children. Hildur left Hundahólmi in 2017. Guðrún Bjarnadóttir, Anna’s sister, has taken care of business in Iceland since. Anna interferes from Zürich in Switzerland.

Our main interest is to enjoy what we are doing. The products are of good quality, they are original and useful. We are very pleased with them!
