Yvonne and Fritz J. Dold became interested in Iceland when the sky above their home in Zürich, Switzerland, stayed perfectly blue, free of all jet lines, for a few days back in 2010. The fact that glass particles in the ash from Eyjafjallajökull could paralyse all air travel over Europe impressed them. They have both worked with glass all their lives. Fritz restoring centuries old church windows or making his own stained glass art work and Yvonne creating useful, decorative pieces.
Both enjoyed their first visit to Iceland. Fritz was taken by the Icelandic horse and Hundahólmi was lucky enough to get to use his drawing as an illustration on a postcard and long sleeve t-shirts. – On Yvonne’s next visit she worked hard. The laundry- and shoe bags are her brilliant idea.
Iceland stayed on their mind. In the end Fritz had enough drawings for an exhibition in Mokka in Reykjavík and stage illustrations for Hrólfur Jónsson’s consert in Harpa in October 2018.
Fritz was thrilled by Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir and her delivery of Söknuður.
